The Coalition is very active with Albany policy-makers in shaping legislation and regulations affecting our sector. We have solid relationships with Higher Education committee leaders and staffs in the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate.  High-ranking legislators, leaders, and key staff in both houses know the Coalition and the work it does to promote quality training in our sector.  The Legislature and the Governor’s office respects the Coalition and seeks its input on matters affecting career education at our schools.

In the present legislative session, the Coalition is supporting legislation that it has been negotiating with the State Education Department.  The bill (S.4268-C; A.7859A) will modernize BPSS practices through new process and computer operations and provide additional resources for services.  It is the first major update of the law in over twenty years, and we look forward to its passage and helping to develop the regulations that will be needed to implement it.
